Car Wont Run Right With H23 Head Swap

ok i just finished my head swap and it runs like shit it backfires and sounds like i have my spark plug wires switched up i checked all of the sensors and i already have a chipped ecu from phatdoughnut but right now i need answers so i can get it running right maybe a new distributor

pull off your valve cover and timing covers and check timing. leave your timing covers off until the car runs right. then check timing again.

then check your t-stat ground/valve cover grounds. and tell us what CEL's youre throwing.

you very well may have the firing order mixed up... what were you going by? and like eric said, check and double check your timing, because thats what it sounds like, whether it be because of the timing belt or the dizzy order...
