ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Check engine light frustration

After cleaning the EGR runners, changing the oil, changing manual tranny oil, fuel filter, cleaning IACV, cleaning thottle body, new o2 sensor, plugs, wires, cap, rotors, ignition coil, new air filter, new exhaust, radiator flush, new thermostat and still can not get rid of the dreaded "check engine light". After I did all of this I even reset the computer, and it still comes on after driving for like 2 minutes. The actual question I had was could my broken speed sensor set off my CEL light since my speedometer and odometer dont work? If not, any suggestions on what it might be? Thanks alot...

Note to self: Pull engine code before I waste all this time and money on something that doesn't even relate to the particular problem.

This is a prime example why we stress to our customers at work about not messing with their vehicles if they have no clue wtf they are doing...

Pull the code, fix whats wrong. Just cause the speedo isn't working doesn't mean thats the only code its throwing...

Theres a little jumper plug on the passenger side by the glove box, you take a piece of plain wire and strip the insulation on both ends then put both ends of the wire into the jumper...

Once you've done that turn your key on but don't start thr car and the CEL will start to blink, count the blinks pay attention to the blinks as well because some are short blinks and some are longer.

Count them and let me know what you got, i just so happen to own and sell automotive diagnostic and repair software (Mitchell1)

yes it doesnt take long. One long = 10 and the short = 1. Check engine lights are there for a reason not to be ignored. Do not listen to anyone that says to ignore check engine light. Its there for a reason.

Thanks guys....never bothered to pull the code cause I never knew how to in this car(only had it 2 months or so). I've done it in my truck but it had one of those nice little plug in things under the drivers side dash. So just take a paper clip, unfold it, stick an end in each wire, turn the key and watch the blinks? Sounds simple enough, Ill give it a try this weekend since high school takes up all my f*cking time

Or you could use a paperclip..but heres the question...on my man's ...I think umm..his first tan Cb7 and his tan Auto Ex he had..CEL light was on...and there was NO JUMPER PLUG ...me and him both looked for it...took off the passenger side kick panel..took a flashlight..and no jumper plug

                          both were 90 cb7s...and also..on mine..NO JUMPER..I wonder if honda didn't include jumper plugs until 91-93??

all I know is..he was PISSED...that he couldn't figure out whats going on with those cb7s and mine as well!

                          we are both puzzled!

I have a 90 EX-R, it has a jumper plug, even though it doesn't seem to work as my light is constantly on and i get no code, but then again you might be right with this and i'm shorting out a plug I shouldn't be, lol (HMM maybe i'm causing this stupid CEL to come on)

they all have it, if you have never used it sometimes it is taped to the wire loom up behind the right side of the glove box, it should be a small blue plug
