Ralphie my man .. here's a cool link to help ya out ..
      http://photography-on-the.net/forum/

The XT has a better buffer .. maybe .. a few quirks here and there that the 300D does'nt have ..
But if price is of any concern, the 300D wins hands down ..

And yes Accord R33 .. it is funny lol .. I guess it's all about what you've used before ..
I've got people on the forum I just linked to Ralphie .. that complain about how heavy
      their 5D's are, with a 70-200 L lens .. and a flash added .. lol!

My 6x7 Pentax, with a 200mm lens, and flash, along with power pack, weighed in at about ..
12 pounds .. These guys dont know what heavy is .. lol .. errr, not sayin that uhhh
you dont know what tiny or small is .. it's like you say tho .. it's all relative ..

Shoot a Wedding for 10 hours, packing 2 6x7 bodies, and two power packs, with lenses,
along with a bag over your shoulder with extra gear, and yeah .. it's a work-out for sure!
On the other hand, if all you're doin is shooting the occasional CB7T meet .. or ..
a bug on a plant in macro .. the digital world is by far light-years ahead of film!

Some people find the 300D too small .. as I thought it was also, before adding a battery pack.
It's not that the camera itself is small .. but, I've got a good size paw .. and well ..
it's been used to holding a bigger camera for 26 years! My fingers starting cramping up
and I was sick of it .. after adding the BG-E1 grip, it's most bearable now ..
and .. my hands are starting to conform to the new technology ..

I used two Nikon F3's at The Oakland Raider's games at all times .. both with motor drives,
and both with large LARGE lenses .. one would hold a 500mm, and the other an 800mm!
You cant stand on the sidelines of an NFL game .. you have to crouch, kneel, or sit ..
One play could be at the 20 .. and in the next few seconds .. you could be 60 yards downfield.
Running and jumping up and down, and trying to capture all at the same time .. oiii!
I felt as if I fawkin played the game sometimes when I was done .. LOL !!!

The digital IMHO has added a few years for me in terms of shooting a game, or a Wedding.
And God knows it's also tacked on several years of chasin models up and down a beach ..

      A Hui Hou !!!

OK so i scoured ebay and i found a hell of a deal on a 300D....

Then i went to Canons website to dl their user manuals to check out features and stuff and i dont see a 300D listed....however i see a 30D on their....8mp....is this the same as the 300D?

        Im thinking its not.

Canons site has the Xt and XTi listed as well.

So here is the 30D off of Canons website:

and here is the deal on ebay 300D:

Its deff not the same but what about features.....

im thinking the 30D is a lil nicer then the 300D but i might be wrong.

Well all i know is im going to be looking into the 300D because ive seen prices as low as 200$ for a full kit....thats fucking insane...if it is a few steps below the Xt series then the hell with it...ill take a body, 2 lens, a filter kit, battery pack for 200. !!!!!

Yeah Ralphie .. I think for what you're plannin on usin it for .. the 300D will be just fine!
I use mine mostly for web use .. models .. and brides .. I do plan on shooting a few games
with The Raiders this year as well .. most of my stuff is'nt even printed anymore ..
It's mostly for use online .. and if anyone needs something for magazine use .. wow ..
I mean .. how big is a magazine?
They'll end up with the original RAW and/or JPEG themselves, and they can process it
in any way their lil heart desires ..

          I believe my 300D is a 6.3MP camera .. dude .. thats allll I neeed ..
I think too many people get caught up in the MP puzzle ..
If you have good glass .. you can make awesome images .. and ...
if you have some basic skills in Post Processing .. you can bump it up even further!

I have the EF 28-105 and it's a great lil lens for what it is .. The image I showed you
of Mary in this thread, was done with it .. I also have a Sigma 15-30 DG, which to me,
is an awwwesome lens! Crystal sharp, great colors .. and verrry affordable!
The only other lens I have is the Tokina AT-X 80-400 .. and it's not bad for what is either.
          It's a lil soft at 400 .. but nothing .. and I mean nothing that PS can't cure ..

So basicly .. I'm covered from 15 to 400mm .. lol .. with just three lenses!
My 300D's are black bodies that I got from Hong Kong .. I like the black bodies as
the silver bodies may cast a reflection in a studio, or a macro situation .. mayybee!
I've always had black bodies .. so, I chose that this time around as well ..

I think you'll really be stoked with the 300D .. specially if you're just starting out with DSLR ..
There's always room to *grow* with DSLR's ..

          A Hui Hou !!!

The 30D is quite a few steps up from the 300D.

here is a photo comparison of the 300D vs the 350D, not a whole lot different
            http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos350d/page22.asp

I think the biggest thing is the 6mp to 8mp jump

I would still go for the 350D though...the DIGIC II processor, and "next generation" CMOS sensor are good selling points

Ok yea im starting to lean towards the 300D lol...

Im going to primarily be using it for personal stuff, not for work. CB7 shoots, friends, family, and then like stuff that i like to do....basically what it is is im addicted to photoshop...its like i can create my own art lol....but i know the front end of it is the camera....and my camera is only so good....so if i can add a SLR to my arsenal with the abilities i have in photoshop, which i think are decent...ill have to post more of my work.....then i think i can create some really nice works...

              I wanna try some sunsets.

I was just looking at the telephoto lenses... the EF 600mm .....WOW.....i could plant my ass on a roof somewhere nice and just shoot....thats incredible .....and i found a rain cover so i can sit in the rain and shoot but thats probably not the greatest idea but id like to get some really nice "mood" shots in the rain....ehhh the possibilites are endless and im hella stoked....

so yea im going to keep my eyes open....

i need to sell parts and buy one instead of cb7 parts ROFL

yeah, just having the RAW files will help photoshop tremendously. go for the 300 if money is an issue, im sure it will be just as good of a starting camera as the 350

No yea money is an issue now....actually i am not looking to get one soon because i just got a Camcorder and i want to experiment with video for a while but im kinda limited on editing that because its crazy expensive and i dont have the programs for it or knowledge.

But maybe in a year or two when im getting 1200/month from the Army for education lol ill pick up a 300d or maybe even the XTi

And yea i think right now if i had the money the 350 would be a lil too much for me.

Ugh i wanna play with one lol so i can get some features down so when i buy one i can run out and shoot lOL

                      Yep .. you'll dig the 300D ..

Uhhh, dont take it out in the rain !!! LOL !
Rainy days are for stayin inside and makin .. uhhh .... brownies .. heheh

If nothin else .. the 300D will teach you more then anythng .. and, later .. when and if
you wanna up-grade .. it'll be that much better for your learning experiance(s)

Your PS skills are such that, anything you do with any DSLR, you'll be crazed !!!

The price of a goood used 300D is almost nuts right now .. those sold brand new
right around $1000 when they first came out ..

I paid 430 for one of mine with the grip and no lens .. and I believe I paid like 370
for my other one .. the lenses I bought on eBay as well .. just be patient ..
That's the only thing about it with camera's .. I was like hitting f5 on eBay every hour! lol

But I'm really happy with both of mine, and the lenses I chose provide me with a good range.
I see there's one on eBay right now .. with the firmware hack .. ahem .. hint ..
The firmware hack makes the 300D act almost like a 20D .. it also boosts the ISO to 1600!
Accord R33 or J-specCb4, correct me if I'm mistaken there ..
Even if you dont buy one with the hack .. it's a free download, from that link
that I provided you with on page one ..

I was just lucky, and found a nice black body with the hack, and the BG-E1 grip!

Here's an image of Kayla .. this was shot with the 15-30 Sigma DG ..
Both the Tokina 80-400 and the Sigma 15-30 are great lenses .. IMHO.
I don't see the need to go out and spend the money on "L" glass ..
With the software that's available out there .. I dunno .. it's just a plus to be able
to adjust something in a matter of minutes in shop ...
You may have minimal adjusting with an "L" lens .. then again ..
can I justify spending $1800 to not adjust .. as much? Ummm .. no!

When I first bought one of my 300D's, it came with a "kit" lens .. the 18-55 ..
Not the greatest .. but certainly not the worst ..
I took this image to see how I'd like it ..
This is the #1 Hole .. on The Dye Course .. mid morning ..
I since sold the lens .. as the zoom option was meaningless to me ..
I'm quite happy with the 3 lenses that I have .. nonetheless .. a pretty good lens
the 18-55 sells for around $50 on eBay ..
