Why dont I get vtec in first

May be a noobish question but ........Works in every other gear correctly. (works everytime) Just not in first... vss and tach work

I believe some ECU's won't let vtec engadge untill the car reaches 25MPH or better. Some might be a bit higher.

I hit about 40 in first

What I ment was the car has to hit 25 before the vtec crossover point on the tach. I don't see why it wouldn't work though. Is the C.E.L. lit?

Some CELs are odd like that. get it fixed and the problem will likely go away

Stock ecu doesn't allow vtec below 25mph i.e first. Crome/uberdata have an option to enable it.
