    Oil pump failure?

Anyone else ever have one? Seems pretty rare in the CB realm. My A6 died about a month ago though and I think my oil pump was the culprit.

I admit...I think I had a leak and at times I would run on low oil. To the point that the light would come on during turns. I learned my lesson though...

ive seen it happen before usually theres oil shavings from the bearings. the journals and rodbearins become charred and like a rainbowish blue like color.

It is pretty rare i agree.
That doesnt mean it cant happen...

The thing is, to examine the oil pump, it has to be removed and cover off. You just have to see inside if the gears and housing are scored up. But that's mad work.

...man, your A6 must've bit the bullet hard man...

using an aftermarket crank pulley can cause that to happen prematurely

Oh I put that motor through some hurdles for sure. But it took it like a champ. I'm almost certain it had to do w/my oil pan banging the ground when I was lowered. I will definitely be more diligent with maintenance this time around.

That's why people that lower any car beyond what's functional have what is coming to them and are idiots for not expecting this to happen. I'm sure the oil pump was not the culprit and that what sounds more reasonable if it did go is because of metal debris from your engine bearings getting toasted. Running low on oil don't help either. Honestly, I would not even bother modifying any engine or dump any money into any car until proper maintenance is learned, otherwise you'll need a large wallet for the many mistakes to come.

Call me an a$$hole, but I'm just voicing the truth here.

Sounds like one or more of your main bearings took a shit like cisco said. I blew my old cb7s f22a4 like that a few years back. It lost all oil pressure and threw on a steady oil light when it finally went. I dumped in two quarts of oil, started it up after a few tries and amazingly i was able to limp it on to the trailer banging like hell lol. The f22a is a beast. Are you going to drop the oil pan and take a look at everything?

Oh yea, most definitely. We drained the oil and there were no shavings or anything like that, so we'll see what happened. If the block is still good, I might use it again...for something...later...

How does it sound when your main bearings are going out? Is like a rod bearing?

Something else must have happened to my car then because it won't even crank over.

can you turn the crank manually?
