    best ecu for h22

what ecu is the best for a modified h22a in a cb7? ive talked to and read that the p13 isnt that great of an ecu to modify...i also heard that the p28 is the best ecu to use because it can be easily modified...but what about the p72? what do you guys run?

i run a chipped p28 and it works wonders with my h22.

Id say the chipped p28 would be the best. obd1 and easy to acquire. p72 works too, but obd2 and rarity play a role in the price.

Now that Ive actually answered, I dont sound like as much of an ass when I say-
This could have easily been found in a search.

They do have an obd1 p72. Both ECUs work well but I prefer the P28.

The P28 is good. I'mr unning one with a Hondata S300 and it's great, but it doesn't support the knock sensor (not a big deal) or the IABs (which I would prefer it did), but the P72 does support the IABs and you can put a chip in it or a Hondata if you have the $600 or so to spend on it. I like the "tune on the fly" ability of the Hondata S300...

            some info on chipping ecu's.
            http://cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=56836

it doesnt matter which ecu you get, as long as its chipped with the things you need.(it needs to be one of those ecu's listed tho)

a chipped p06 with vtec and iabs works just as well as a p72, and its also much cheaper unless you get a p72 or p28 for cheap.

but its not the ecu itself that makes the difference, its the map and how its tuned thats most important.

most common option is the p28. its easier to get. although when i do my swap within the next month i will be running a jdm p72 w/s200. the p72 is harder and more espensive but closer to the p13 than the p28.

p06 is easier to get. but it all depends on the junkyards around you.

and again, it doesnt matter what ecu it is or how "close" it is, as it will be chipped and tuned(hopefully)

What he said. You will not unleash the full potential until it is tuned right. Thats the basic advantages of the p06-p28, p28, p72.

Would that affect performance or anything else?

Im not sure exactly what P# the ECU is, but jspech22acclude has an teggyGSR ECU, and that thing flies with no limiters on it. Unchipped and accelerates like a bat outta hell!

How is that possible unchipped. Yea it will run it but the gsr map will make the h22a run like shit. YOu have to chip it either way. And its a p72.

x2, if it feels fast it's most likely because its running lean lol, sure it's not tuned?

Well as far as I know he bought it off a guy who owned a GSR and had a few ECUs laying around, and I know that he didnt do anything to it so you might be right, its his car not mine. I was just telling whoever what He had for his H22.
