p28 runs fine while p13 runs like shit(h22)

I had just got done swaping out the f22 tranny for the h22 tranny, swap in new a new h22 head, since my old one bend a few valve. Now the problem is with the ecu, I have a p28 chipped that came with the engine. I had recently purchase a usdm p13. I had try out the p28 and everything runs fine and smooth, but doesn't pull hard since vtec it at 5900. Switch it to the p13 and it idles rough, like it's not getting enough fuel? It will evenlty die if you don't give it some gas. But it pulls hard and strong that you can feel like the gas pedal vibarting like it's gonna explode over 6500rpm. It doesn't do that on the p28 though. The check engine comes up on the p13 once you go over 40 mph, haven't got it check yet. Any insight on this?

Without more info I would say maybe the knock sensor or egr is acting up. P28 doesn't support those but the p13 does...pull those cel codes.

never seen a KS or egr cause symptoms like that......usually only slight hesitation with a CEL....shouldn't even go into safe mode

          could be a bad ecu

a vafc on the p28 should fix everything....if you can't find a reason the p13 is bad, sell it and buy a vafc with that money
....and on the 7th day, deevergote rested and called his mom.

i had the same problem, , at first my check engine light bulb was out, so i didn't know if its even throwing a code, so i replaced the cluster and found that it was knock sensor, i guess it was retarting the timing or something, using a p28 for know, but i have to switch back to p13 for emmision and bar. and have to give it back to my friend

i'd be curious to on this subject cause i just put a usdm h22a4 into a 92 lude and am usinga skunk2 chipped p13. it doesn't want to run when cold. And when it warms up it will pull fairly hard, but seems like it's missing something. i can't race around too much cause i dont have the exhaust manifold on, but yah it does idle kinda low and will stall once it's warmed up. i need to check for vacuum leaks.

also one weird note is that i'm using the h23 external coil dizzy and i have it turned all the way counter clock wise (dont know if that's retarding or advancing) and it still feels like it's not far enough. I'd like to check timing, but it sounds the same as first point.

all the way away from you is advancing, towards you(clockwise) is retarding.

                        The code was

41 Primary Oxygen Sensor - Heater circuit malfunction

Now my motor is a jdm and the p13 I have is a usdm. I also had try one of my cousin usdm p13 that he had laying around and it's doing the same thing. He's running a turbocharge h22 in a civic so we didn't test the p13 on his.

check the connections to your o2 sensor.

Its definitely your o2 sensorthe same shit is happening to me right now. Once the p13 senses a sensor goes fucked up and its major well in your case not major to get around in the p13 will spank you. That shit will give you more than just a slap on the wrist. What it does is it richens you up and adds its own values fucks with your timing back it down so that you dont fuck it up. Thats how honda likes to do things they wanna be more known for their reliability.

They really dont wanna see the engines abused so for a safety measure to insure that to a certain extent they added limp mode which adds its own values when it senses something fucked up or not making a connection it goes right back tot he ecu and your ecu becaomes you guardian angel and fucks with your car on the low and then the CEL pops up like hey uhh you need to check that shit and see what i found. And until you fix it and reset it and start over until it doesnt pop up again your stuck. When it does get fixed it will return back to its normal strength and always remember a healthy motor is a happy motor (big smile)
