    Baked-On Pine Tar

OK, I have a spot of pine tar that has been baked on the hood of my car and tried everything to get it off. I have searched everywhere and read that Rain-X will work but I don't know all about that. HELP

Try Peanut Butter. This gets road tar off, so maybe it'll work for this.
put some on and let it sit for a little bit and wash off.

rain-x is good for tar and other tuff stuff. You need to rinse the car spary the rain-x in the area and use a mit and car soap and scrub it down. Do it again if needed.

Just use a little touch-up paint afterwards and you're good.

if you have steady hands just use a razorblade, then some acry solvent to rub it off...then some rubbing compound. i do it this way at work all the time and it works great, just don't get the paint with the razor.

I've been able to get rid of pine tar on my car with lighter fluid on a rag and a credit card to help scrape it off.

Does peanut butter work on paint too? I know its good for trim.
I could see lighter fluid working, can't be too much different than some of the ingredients of bug & tar remover.

soak a cloth in bug and tar remover and sit it on the sap.....that should soften it up a little, then you can use a plastic razor blade to pry it off. later.

I had about a dozen spots of pine tar that I tackled a few months ago.

I tried peanut butter... I would still be working on it (it helped, but not much). But I used Skippy with lots of non-peanut fillers... maybe only "real peanuts" peanut butter is the stuff to use.

Then I used Bug and Tar Remover... that took about two hours and some serious elbow grease.

But if I started with a razor blade to get most of it off mechanically, it probably would have gone much faster.

goo gone works for sap, that and a razor is my solution (steady hand, sharp focus to avoid taking a chunk out of your paint)

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.
