ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    ripped off?

ok i took my car to the mechanic for an e-test. it failed because the NO was double what the passing limit should of been. he supposedly did work on it and it finally past after like 4 e-tests... but to me they appear very suspicous if you ask me, i scanned them so you guys can take a look. i think he ripped me off.

(if you're wondering about the date, i went overseas and couldn't deal with this right away but i think it should affect me complaint)

take a look at those. do you guys see the inconsistensies? he charged me around $470 and it finally passed and the exact words on the receipt were..

"change and clean intake system and gasket"

i personally don't think he did ANY work..i suspect he could of possibly even used some other car for the test given the inconsistencies...also the intake manifold doesn't look like anyone laid a finger on it. recently i found a block plate on the egr valve that i know he put there...this is what gave me the clue to look further into this... why would he do this? what purpose would this serve... did he put it on there before or after the passing e-test... could a car even pass an e-test with the egr blocked off?

this to me is all confusing and i was hoping some of you guys that know about cars can actually make sense of any of this.

    i really appreciate it. thanks.

after the 2nd test I would have definitely gotten a 2nd opinion.....you live in Ontario? Know your mechanic well? Does his shop do the actual drive clean? In my experience most mechanics (in my area at least) send out their cars for the test to another place and therefore don't have control over the results.......but yeah, those results look really inconsistent.....how could your CO% fluctuate that much? I've heard horror stories about guys running different cars through the machine, but this looks really sloppy if he's doing that.

Kind of looks like three different cars to me but I may be wrong. All the readings are all over the place.

Dunno if you have visual inspection but if they spot the egr blockoff i bet it's an auto fail. Most people I have heard of running the block plate complain about throwing a cel code which is also a fail. Someone correct me if i'm wrong but blocking the egr does cause some readings to be much higher since it is there to recirculate exhaust into the intake manifold (helps absorb heat and lower nox emissions if functioning correctly)...definitely sounds suspicious to me man

thank god we dont have to go throw this in the maritimes, no car would ever pass unless it was right off the showroom floor

As someone mentioned before, the results seem like they are all over the map... Which place did you do this at in Ontario??? Were you watching him do it? It could be possible that he unhooked something in your car to cause it to run differently between the tests such as your O2 sensor.
The worst case scenario, he took you for a ride. That is just wrong. Looks like the max. amount of restests is 2 AFTER REPAIRS!: http://www.driveclean.com/how/costs.html
Does this apply to your situation?

If you don't mind me asking, how much did he charge you for all the repairs done? There is a limit that the repairs can run up to before your car is eligable for "conditional" pass. I forgot the allowed repair amount, but check out Ontario's drive clean program's website for all the info.
