ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

and how would putting the wires together help not through a cel? i think the egr needs to be there unless you have a chipped ecuMaple50175 - you're annoying =P

but the idea is that when plugged in, you complete a circuit. when it isn't a complete circuit, the ECU tells you something is wrong (CEL) so if you complete said circuit without the EGR present..... no CEL. basically telling a blind person that everything is okay. but it isn't.
(Not trying to make fun of any blind people reading this. Just simplifying it.)

I have and idea on how to leave it hooked up and keep the engine bay clean... You can cut the valve off near the top and just keep the electrical part and part of the pin from the valve to fool the ECU.
Tap into the egr wires anywhere between where the connector is and the ECU. It would be easiest to do at the ECU as far as the wiring goes, except you'd need to run a vacuum line thru the firewall.
If you don't need the valve in place for the inspection police, you could easily mount it anywhere in the engine bay.
I have paperwork somewhere on fooling the EGR with variable resistors and some other electronics parts, it seems like a complicated PITA to me. Get a P28 or P72 is the real solution. I don't think you guys can tie the wires together or anything that simple, or we'd all know that by now and I wouldn't have found complicated instructions.
I will dig up that stuff if someone electronic savvy wants to take a crack at it...
The ECU senses valve movement only from the EGR valve's top part. The ECU gives the signal that allows engine vacuum to open the valve, and then gets feedback from the valve that it has indeed opened.Last edited by lucid; 10-26-2008, 05:54 PM.

ok so why not put something smaller in between the wires instead of trying to connect a power to a groundMaple50175 - you're annoying =P

Yeah if it was a simple as capping the wires off everyone would have done it and this conversation wouldn't be happening.
