ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Steering and Suspension Help

Ok, my cars sick. I Know my struts and springs are gone, I've already figured out that I'm going to need to replace those, but I was wondering about the steering components. I'm a noob and don't really know what all I need to replace, I'm think I need to replace the upper and lower ball joints (With control arms attached?) and I was planning on doing the Energy bushings at the same time., My car drives like the suspension is falling apart, every bump sounds horrible, my passenger rear tire rubs when I have any weight in the back or hit a weird angle. Plus I've attacked many a pothole and I'm on my second engine, third transmission, and have snapped three CV shafts. I want to start modding my cb but I don't see the point putting any money into a car than can barely stay on the road.

    Just get a replacement car.

For the suspension , according to your description replace upper control arms and balljoints. Replace lower control arm balljoints , replace outer tie rod ends , replace shocks and springs like you said.

Also click this link to determine which are shot.

Thanks, Tomorrow I'll run through the test and see if its specifically one part down there, should I do new bushings while I'm doing all this?

Might as well once you start taking things apart. Energy suspension bushing master kits will help firm up the ride but usually only last a year before they start decaying. The master kit from Prothane have harder poly compound and will last longer but the car will vibrate a good bit more.

Unless you want to make it like new find someone (frame shop, trusted auto repair shop, or a friend that knows suspension) and find out exactly what you need so you don't buy part you don't need at this time, unless your restoring don't use the shotgun approach. Just replace the bad parts. It's much cheaper!
From your description plan to spend around 350.00 or more on parts only.
