it was a 4th gen lude VTEC crossmember, it came with my first h22. it came from a RHD car, but that shouldnt make any difference.

i got more work done today. i clayed the engine to see how close the valves got to the pistons, and its got plenty of room. swapped the vtec pins to lock them, put the belt on and spun it over. the ex valves didnt even touch, the intake ones barely did. so im in the clear. put all the rockers back together so the head is ready to drop on. im not even going to paint it (like i did the original head) because the color is so close to the paint i used, and its clean some of the block is flaking, so i scraped it up and touched up the corner by the engine code.

also, larry/oneoffaccord brought my suspension stuff to the land of torches and airhammers and knocked all of my bushings out!!!! he saved me sooooo much work, this is gonna go back together so easily.

tomorrow when i get home ill drop the head on and keep working on prepping the suspension.

no im going to be using the new head. it was machined to fit larger intake valves anyway, to swap everything over would be a waste, as its all together and broken in already... i know i shouldnt have really any problems with it...

today i knocked the balljoints out and got everything together that i want sandblasted. found a place to do it, but i think my dad might get the kids to do it at the local highschool for free, he teaches there and knows the shop teachers

it took me forever to separate the green IM gasket from the head, somebody glued it on and it fused onto the head, i had to scrape it off with a razor blade. finally got it all off without much damage :P i also cleaned up the deck surface and IM flange.

torqued the head down and put some of the stuff back together, like the IM and stuff on the dizzy side of the head.

                        pics:

                        ahhhhh i see wires!!!!!!

                        waiting for the head

hmmm maybe i should paint the head. doesnt look this different in person though, its just the way it picks up light in the picture...

                              got some work done today.

first, the upper balljoint holes were too small to fit the SPC camber kit through them:

so i bored them out (with a dremel) and now they fit perfectly snug:

then i went through and made a separate pile of the suspension parts that i will not be reusing on my car:

and a pile of the parts i will be (re)using:

a few parts are missing from the above picture, because they are on their way tomorrow morning to be sandblasted by the local highschoolers in shop class

heres the parts after they've been run through my parts washer. i also dremel sanded out all the bushing holes, as well as the balljoint and bearing ones in the knuckles. chamfered all the edges to make tomorrow easier

                              .....my "parts washer" :

i still need to clean and paint the calipers and brackets, intermediate shaft, and figure out how to clean the rear hubs without hurting the bearings.

i also painted the front of the head, installed the cams, replaced a slowly-leaking front balance shaft seal, and wiped down the engine bay.
