    fortunately the rest of my head is fine, the cams and rockers are replaceable, just... what the hell... what now? stock cams are only a bandaid...

    ive been running mobil1 10w30, i plan to use redline from now on.
    Yeah my buddy only recommends torco or elf synthetic. Mobil 1 is part of your problem i believe it doesnt have zync.. Torco, redline, royal purple, elf is what my friend recommends.
    The cam wear might be because of running your valves too tight. Also if your running aftermarket cams they might be too aggressive.
    Sucks that your cams and rockers are jacked, i almost called it quits when i called honda for a price of rockers.. Best bet would be to find a h22a head, snag the rockers and get some cams from a reputable shop..

      ive still been driving the car, but i have the vtec solenoid disconnected, to prevent the vtec rockers from ever being used. the main rockers are worn, but in much better shape than the vtecs. i dumped a bottle of zddplus / zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate (cool word lol) into my recent fresh Mobile1.

      ive noticed ive been getting better mileage and im not getting soot deposits on my bumper. probably from never hitting vtec, and having fixed my ignition problem a while ago.

      soooooo ive been looking hardcore for a TRUCK.

      i found one, yesterday. im picking it up monday after work. i cant wait to clean it up and post pictures once i get it! sad to say that come monday, i probably wont be driving the coupe again for this year, until i get a number of things straightened out with it.

            on my last tank of gas, i got 28mpg... better than ever before :P

            and no i wasnt intentionally keeping it a secret really. its a '94 toyota SR5. extended cab, 3.0 V6 manual 4x4. medium-dark green with grey interior, 99k original miles, with NO RUST. great condition, the original owner maintained it very well and kept it garaged. he gave it to his son, who im buying it from, who works at a toyota dealership and has replaced just about everything important, and anything that was a recall that he learned about. headgaskets, timing belt, water pump, alternator, shocks, calipers, rotors, and more... he even replaced all of the seatbelts because he didnt like how they seemed "old" and didnt retract quick enough. new rust-free chrome bumpers front & rear. its got good tires, a front brush guard, a/c, sunroof, window rain visors, new sony deck and speakers, front & rear H3 slim driving lights. bedliner, chrome trim package, alloy wheels... even down to having a pair of bucket seats & a double-open console instead of the typical single bench seat. this is the exact options and specific features that i was looking for, and its in great shape. i always figured i would want to lower it (that GMC is beautiful!!!!) but ultimately decided the height and usefulness of the 4x4 was preferable. and i would could not see myself owning ANYTHING other than a 92-94 toyota truck.

            i dont have any pictures of my exact truck, but here are a couple of almost exactly the same thing, just about the only difference is that i didnt get a cap with it. i could not find a SINGLE speck or indication of anything leaking anywhere under the hood.

            unfortunately i talked to him tonight and found out that tomorrow wont work, and tues/wed is more likely. hes reluctant to sell the truck, but is doing it to pay for an 05 Tacoma with 30k that he can get for super cheap at the dealership he works for, and he just cant pass it up.

            but within the next couple days ill have it and ill get it cleaned up to take and post some real pictures of it.

                i love the 'yota mike. i've been into mini-trucks for a while, so even though you dont want to lower it, i still think you should make it look like this:

                  wow, what a bummer... last night i got a call from the kid saying that he cant sell me the truck. he was selling it to pay toward a new tacoma, but when he sat down and worked everything out between his insurance, payments, school bills, gas bills, it just wouldnt work without making him struggle too hard, and he can NOT sell me the truck.

                  soooooo... im really disappointed, because this truck was in FANTASTIC condition. but, they are out there... gotta just keep on looking

                    Now, did this happen from using 10w30?
                    I've been using Honda 5w30 on the last two oil changes.

                      Wow, Mike comes through once again (indirectly)!

                      Long story short, I needed a new alt/ac belt. Went to Honda. Got the corresponding belt for my application. Brought it home and compared it to the old one. Not even fvcking close to being the same. WTF?!

                      Googled "5PK1105" (b/c it was on the old worn belt) to hopefully find that p/n and a possible dealer. Fifth link down was to this thread.

                      05 = 5 ribbed belt
                      0435 = 43.5" effective length

                      it took a while to select that particular one, my friend and i were at the belt rack in the back of autozone for a good while checking them all one by one with a tape measure... apparently it came from the 1.8L in a 1984 toyota camry... lol

                      I will be at AutoZone first thing in the morning (needless to say).

                          my rocker arms and euro-r cams are chewed up pretty badly, especially all my vtec rockers. deep grooves where they meet the cams.

                          i have a spare set of h22a4 cams, i need to find a whole set of rockers, and i will be using Redline oil from now on.

                          im now even MORE in the market for a truck to drive in place of this, if i can get one soon enough, my car may finally be able to be put back under the knife for the fall/winter.

                          That sucks big time, sorry to hear. I had to put my CB out of commision from August 07' to March 08'(Various setbacks that stopped me from getting it on the road) so I know what its like to have down time and it sucks so hard. Good luck with a speedy recovery

                          So is this some kind of chronic problem with the Euro-R motors? And ideas what could've cause the rocker arms and cams to get chewed up so bad so soon??

                                Seriously, it's not like Honda would suddenly cheap out on aluminum for the rockers and cams. But then if this is happening somewhat regularly, or at least more often than it should be, wtf?
