Got power to the headunit, turned out I was just connecting the wrong wires.

However, no sound. Speakers are there, but I think the wires have been cut and spliced into amp wires, so I may have to reconnect them if I can find where they were cut, or whatever is going on.

Good! Powered up the headunit, but I had no power to the speakers, as they were all custom wired into amps and everything.

So, I ended up just running my own speaker wire straight from the deck to each speaker.

I removed the custom kick panel enclosures and speakers and mounted them in the sides of the hatch. I've got nice Boston 5 1/4" speakers in all 4 corners and they sound really nice. I'm happy to finally have some sound in there now.

In less than a week, I've got the car pretty much up to daily driver spec and good to go. That means tomorrow I can call insurance and take the coupe off the road and just put fire & theft on it.

SO much work for sound. would have been better if the previous owner just ran the wires to each speaker instead of chopping up the harness like that

It was a shop that did the install, and I have personally never, ever seen such a crazy and well done installation with no detail spared.

I would love to meet the installers and just tell them "wow."

Ofcourse it has cancer, it's got over 400 000km on the body...I think that's around 300k miles.

Being a Calgary car too, they're more prone to rust than down here in southern Alberta. My coupe is a southern Alberta car and damn near immaculate in comparison to the rust the wagon has. But the coupe also only has 185km on it.

Are you going to fully repair the rust or just let it go since it is a dd for right now?

I might just let it go for now. I absolutely love this car, and I can see myself owning this one long term. Perhaps, once the coupe is built, I can shift some major focus to the wagon and start to really fix it up nice.

As the car sits, peeling, stripped and faded paint, rust and blemishes galore, I cannot go anywhere without this car getting tons of attention. It is mind blowing how much attention I get in this thing. I haven't got this much attention in a vehicle since my slammed lime green and black Mazda B2200.

It would be fantastic to really fix this car up nice. The coupe is my main goal to build and complete for now, but the wagon already has, and will continue to get the TLC it needs. It's strange too, I almost enjoy driving the wagon more than the coupe too.

Pretty much as far as custom wiring goes, unless it's fully functional when you get it, it's always best to just tear it out and do it again. Much less time to pull the carpet and re run it yourself than to troubleshoot for hours, even if you did the original instal... And yeah love on the wagon but don't forget your awesome coupe project!

I had to start from scratch with the wiring because when I got the car, the headunit was previously stolen, so I had nothing, and I couldn't hook up my headunit to the wiring that was there, so I had no choice but to tear it all out.

The stereo "was" nice, back in the 90`s, when it was installed, along with
that sick ass VCR and PS2...and CD Changer.

Like you said, its your DD and you need it to suit your needs.
Do what needs to be done. I always like "tearing" up other peoples
work, get to see whats going on all behind the panels and such.

                                Again, awesome score.
