Mike and Mauri's swap weekend pictures! (no 56k... 50 pics hehe)
actually pulling out mauri's motor is super easy. every single unnecessary bracket has been removed, and all of the accessories their plumbing have been completely removed. so after disconnecting the coolant and vacuum lines, wiring, axles and exhaust, theres not much else besides just the 4 mount bolts. since he originally put the motor in, its come out at least twice a year since. believe it or not, to do any work to it, its easier to just pull the whole thing out instead of trying to work on it while its still in the small engine bay.
swapping motors is actually a lot of fun and never gets old. i love spending a whole weekend doing major car work with friends. also, splitting the cost of the engine hoist was the greatest investment we have EVER made. its amazing how handy it is to have around. the first swap i did, i paid $100 for two days and the weekend to rent a hoist. we had a friend get us an employee discount on this hoist from advance auto, and we split the final cost to $50 each, and its been used for over a dozen swaps at least (which would add up to $1200+ in rentals!! ). out of every hoist ive tried, id recommend this one to anybody... perfect size for our cars, and its got a double pump handle. 2ton PowerLift from advance auto...
as for the energy for doing this for the weekend was pretty tiring. only ate a couple meals, had a few breaks, and less sleep then average. we basically just motivated ourselfs to finish up and complete our goals for that weekend.
we could of took more pics but it was kind of hard to clean our hands everytime just to take pictures

i know what you mean mike.
nice work guys! all those pics make me want to go out into the garage and get my hands dirty!
Stripped is the way to go if you do work regularly! Takes me about 20-30 min to have the motor and trans out and on the ground. Makes me glad I stripped it everytime I pull it out
