sorry i didnt see your reply.

that black bulb twists out, twist counterclockwise and pull. where those two black wires meet the circuit board is where i soldered the wires for my knobs. i dont suggest taking that out and putting an LED in it... it wont light up the pictures anymore. if you leave the stock bulb, the blue light from the LEDs in the backs of the knobs will kinda make its way back into the unit and will make the pictures more bluish.

lemme find my .zip file, i made one a while back that had all the guides in it.

You've inspired me and i asked my parents to just merely fund me as a christmas present (since they/i have no idea what i want).
Can you give me a full layout of what exactly i need and how many/much?

mike, would you like to do this mod to my car?

i'd most definitely pay you, how much would it cost, to do a full led conversion? and i'd bring it to you.

ok so im looking at your zip fiile, i open one of the html links and theres instructions. i pretty much understand all of it except what material to use as a filter, and i saw some of the leds were shaved down. which spots do those go into? and theyre just clear leds?

shimoto - no, unless you paint them with like, nail polish or something. but they wouldnt light up, they would just be painted...

                            ---------------

bodiez - ummmm.... you need enough of the "74 LED bulbs" to replace all of the indicators, like the check engine light, the seatbelt light... should be around 10-12 of those. you also need another one for the ignition key ring and the ring around the cig lighter, so thats 12-14... these pre-made LED bulbs with the 74-type base do NOT need a resistor, you can get them from here : http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b....27551&next=50 but they ONLY work for the cluster indicators, and the two rings (cig lighter and key)

then you also need the following for hte AC controls:
                            nine 3mm LEDs (blue)
eight 5mm OR eight more 3mm LEDs (blue)
                            one white 3mm LED
                            ten resistors- 560ohm
non-solder perfboard of some sort to mount the LEDs to
                            extra wire
double sided foam tape for spacing/mounting
superglue (best stuff in the world)

then you need another four 3mm LEDs, and +1 for sunroof button and +1 for foglight button so thats 4-6 of those, and two more 5mm LEDs for the gauge cluster, and you need a 560 ohm resistor for each of those, so thats another 8 or so resistors.

i think thats it. the 3mm and 5mm and resistors you can get from http://www.lsdiodes.com/ and LEDs are 45cents each (besides the white one, which is 60cents) and reisstors are 5 for 25cents. so idk, add it up. oh and also the first link, the 74 LED bulbs are $1.19 each. so total... $12 for standalone LEDs, $1.25 for resistors, and $15 for the 74 LED bulbs... so figure like $35 total maybe. plus perfboard and wire and solder. also read what i said to OnE eYe GuY below about the blue filter and sanded LEDs.

                            ---------------

br0nx finest - it takes way too long to do for people, i did one set for Jarrett and i decided that was the end of it, i really dont have the time, and its not worth it for me, im sorry even if you brought it to me, it takes hours, it would take a couple days to do from start to finish (while i was doing mine i drove with no dash trim or buttons for a few days)

                            ---------------

OnE eYe GuY - use diffused blue plastic as a filter, something that when you hold it up to light, it lets light through, but you cant clearly see anything thru it, something thatll diffuse out the light, make it look like hte plastic is glowing... thats what the picture below shows, good and bad plastics. and about the LEDs, the 74 LED bulbs come pre-flattened, but EVERY LED that you install shoudl be flattened, so any that arent, you need to sand down yourself. the 74 LED bulbs are direct repalcements for the gauge cluster indicators. those are the only things that are directly replaceable with premade LED bulbs, the rest are custom.

                            ---------------

btw, for all of you, all high intensity LEDs are completely clear, no matter what color light they emit. so they all look clear in the DIY guides, but they are in fact high intensity blue LEDs.

Thanks alot dude. My dad was wondering if these LEDs are too bright to drive with (as LEDs are usually real bright). Hes an electrician and said he could easily set the dimmer up to work effeciently for LEDs but just curious.

BTW, thanks alot for the part list cpmike.

eh, my dad commented abotu them being really bright... i love the look, and it isnt too bright IMO. i mean at night people who look into the car can see a light blue glow on the passengers...
