DIY request for fixing bumper sag?

ok so my front bumper sags a bit as i've seen many hundreds of accords with the same prob... i tried different methods of fixing an it doesnt work.. anyone got a good fix to this problem ? make a write up?

The bumper sagging problem comes from two different things from what I've experienced.

#1 The two long bolt mounting hangers built into the bumper support sometimes needs to be "lifted" and the nut (inside the engine bay)torqued at the highest point when taking the bumper off and putting it back on. If this is not done, the bumper may sit higher or lower on one side in the front.

#2 The plastic slider rails that are mounted on the chassis that mates with the bumper rails sometimes "move around". You need to make sure #1 ^ is done and it's at the highest point and also screw in both small screws into the chassis support rail. If those triangle mounts are wobbly, then chances are even if you get it aligned right, they may shift and cause ur bumper to sag. Make sure the plastic sliding rail on the chassis is straight and secure.

If these options do not work, chances are your bumper may be "warped' due to weather conditions. I'm thinking it's one of the two above. I've taken my bumper off 15+ times installing jdm parts and running wires and maybe out of the 15+ times, I got my bumper sitting flush and perfect only about 6x. It's kinda tricky but if everything is aligned right (especially the rails) then you shouldn't have a problem unless ur bumper is slightly warped.

Hope that helps... if it doesn't I'm going to be doing some work on my car pretty soon when I wire my new toy so I need to take the bumper off anyways. I'll just take pictures

From looking at the picture you posted again, it looks like your bumper is not even sitting on the chassis rail. Did you strip the 2 screw in areas on the bumper cover itself? If they don't hold that triangle piece, there is no way u can secure it in the fender area.

I loosen the bolts, put my knee under one side and lift, then tighten, then do the other side

Yeah that'll work too! I usually have my bumper lamps out already and I just put my hand through the hole there and lift while tightening.

Woah... I see so many CBs with gaps too. Just like mine. I tried everything I could think of an seriously nothing works. I jacked up both ends of the bumper cover before tightening it with the bolts and as soon as I remove the jacks, the bumper falls back down. Really I think it's the reinforcement. I was also thinking about screwing both ends up to the fender which I guess would help a bit but I rather not.

What about the rear bumper? any suggestions on how to fix that?

i would have to say that its probably because the car has been in an accident? or those headlights dont fit very well. the gap may not just be the bumper, may require some adjustment of the lenses as well.

as far as the gap under the headlight, that takes lots of "lifting up" on the bumper while youre tighting the bolts down. and for the corner ends, i usually use a thick zip-tie from the top screwhole in the edge of the bumper, and zip it to the first hole above it for the fender liner on the fender. that pulls the corner of the bumper flush with the corner of the fender.

yea the bumper has a crack in it but even before i cracked it, it was already unaligned.. an nah no accidents

an i don think its the headlights cuz my bumper aligns fine with the lights, it jus doesnt align on the the part where it connects to the fenders...

the zip-tie thing did work for me but the zip-tie kept breaKing.. im gona buy some thicker zip-ties an try tht

this can be annoying i had to take off my bumper 6+ times in 1 night, all for this same reason i had to get my 6 year old cousin to hold the bumper upa and make sure they were ont he side rails and my problem was more of the headlights, i adjusted them and made it sit flush

I find that when I try adjusting the headlights, it then creates a gap between the corner lights and the fender

Apparently, my car has been into an accident according to Carfax but the funnt thing is that before I removed the bumper, everything was just fine...Oh except for the gaps between the corner lights and the fenders. I think it is either that the bumper is really old and gravity gave it a little down pull. Could be either the cover itself of simply the reinforcement which I think is more probably. I think next summer when I will have fixed other annoying problems and that the bumper gap will be the most annoying one on the list, I'll do some modifications to either the reinforcement or simply make new holes into the chassis to higher the reinforcement a little.

Hey look on the bright side though....perhaps your gap offers better cooling for your engine bay

i use the yellow JDM zip ties they hold up just keep a pack of them in your car having a low car will scrap shit occasionally just the nature of the beast my shit has been broken since i bought it and i just run zip ties it works and yopu can make the gap what ever you want
