    brand new clutch slips?

for all that know me......i just recently put an f22a6 in my 91 ex. finally worked out all the bugs and i put it on the road today. go to take it out for a drive around 9 oclock tonight and was driving fine. i got on it a little and all of the sudden my rpms were jumping and i wasnt going anywhere....im like nah cant be...so i take it easy and limp back home but before i got home i was cruisin at about 40 in 5th gear and i floored it to see if i was crazy. the tach just jumped to 6500 and bounced of the limiter.....at this point i was furious but i had someone in the car so i really couldnt get that mad. im sayin its a brand new clutch, the clutch cought hard into second on the short trip from my shop to my house. i just dont know what it could be and im kind of beside myself because i have had troubles with this fucking car since i bought it in february and i just now got it on the road. im pretty competent when it comes to mechanics and im basicly up shits creek with out a paddle with this one.thanks in advance guys-eric

What kind of clutch did you put in?

If it's organic it requires a break in period and you can glaze the friction surface if you get on it too hard too soon...

You should be driving easy on that clutch for at least 500 miles.

yea yea i kno, break in periods blah blah blah.....ive known plenty of people that never broke in a clutch....and have had it work fine since. not just wimpy civics either, respectable motors such as h22's, gsr's and a b16.

First of all the clutch you got is complete garbage.

Second you really need to break it in. I put a Clutch Masters Stage 1 (organic) behind my H22 and I broke that puppy in nice and easy. Works great.

The 3rd possibilty is that the clutch is so craptacular that it just doesn't work right. My friend had this issue with an Autozone clutch in his Pulsar. Replaced it with an OEM one and it works perfect.

it may not be the best, but the autozone clutches are fine... when he said he knew ppl with h22s who didnt break their clutches in, im guessing he meant me. i never broke in my autozone clutch and its worked perfectly fine, so im not gonna straight out agree that his problem is caused only by having a crappy clutch, but you cant rule anything out...

I had a centerforce stage 1 clutch put in and it took me 4 months to break it in. I had it installed while I was at school and the car sits at home. So it was tough to get those 500 miles. But now it is doing fine and grabs like none other. I really like it

I am thinking this doesnt pertain to the clutch slipping, but I will throw it out there anyway. Do you think there is air still in the lines? You didn't bleed the system all the way?

Or it could be you have a worn out master/slave cylinder.

when you got your clutch replaced, did you get the flywheel resurfaced? maybe that could be your problem since the clutch isn't grabbing
