This morning I was getting ready to go to work when I got in my car and tried to start it. I turned the key and the engine would start spinning but wouldn't actually start. It took me a good 3 minutes before it finally did, and when it did my girlfriend said a lot of black smoke came out of my exhaust. I recently purchased a new battery since my old one was gone, so I don't think that could be the problem. Anyone got any ideas on what it could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

it could be either...
1. Main Relay
2. Control Module (inside distributer cap)
3. Ignition Coil.
Have all three of those checked out. Might as well have the spark plugs replaced as well.

i had it up on jackstands for like a month without a battery in it, then i put it back down and it sat for like another month level... put a new battery in and it wouldnt start. it eventually went away, i kept trying to start it daily and eventually it just got better.
