yes it could be the main relay, as it powers not only the fuel pump, but also the fuel injectors and one of the pins on the ecu...

I thought the main relay controlled fuel pump only in accords? Only the civics/tegs had that dunno.

main relay is a double relay... first relay powers the injectors, ecu, and second relay... the second relay powers the fuel pump

open it up and see if there are any cracks on the solder joints... instead of being a smooth joint youll see crack ring thru the solder around the pin... use a soldering iron to resolder all the joints.

go search-advanced search and search titles only for "main relay" and youll get a LOAD of results

also check all your ecu fuses and grounds... solid cel i've found to mean that the ecu isnt getting power from everywhere it expects...

Have you looked into testing your ignitor as a possible cause of problem? Everyone always jumps all over the main relay but the ignitor is just as common a problem in these cars.

When you turn the key forward do you hear the fuel pump?
Have you checked all the power and ground wires to the ECU?
Make sure you check of the all ground wires on the car

Well you already know what a solid CEL means. But your telling us that it's not the ECU. Here is the actual ECU test procedure. It could have to do with your fuel pump. There is too much for me to write out so here are some images.

If you put the rear seat down and are fairly close to the fuel pump havea friend turn the key to the on position, you should be able to hear a whirring kind of noise. If it doesnt make noise, then it isnt being activated or is defective. But, if you dont have anyone to help you, just lay the seat down and turn the key to on, if the pump turns on it kinda sounds like the noise of a cellphone on vibration alert.

Or you could relieve the pressure in the fuel system at the fuel rail and turn the car on and then re-check the pressure to see if the system repressurizes.
