My shifter moves fine side to side, but feels like I'm shifting through rocks going forward and backward. I noticed my shifter cables for the side to side linkage is greased up, and the front-back linkage doesn't. Can I just grease up the cables or do I have to replace them?

you could try pbblaster, but i think once it starts to dry out internally, theres no real way to lube the cable thatll last any period of time....

Multi Purpose Silicone Lubricant Spray
We'll see how long it lasts but it solved the problem for now. I think it was just the part of the linkage within the car. I got scared that ALL my synchros went and I'd have to sell the car... *wipes brow*
