VSS Trouble.

Ok, i just finished up my new h22a this morning, after spinning a main bearing in the old one. and i took it out for a test drive only to see that my speedometer isnt working.
i stop and double check the plug in, and its plugged in....but i unpluged it and plugged it back in for good measure. still nothing...

I guess my question is, can a VSS just randomly go bad? i mean, it worked last week before the motor took a shit...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Check for blown fuses or a pinched wire near the trans. If all is good, swap it out the vss for a known working vss. If your speedo still doesn't work, I would say swap out the vss plug/connector for another vss plug/connector. I had this issue with my civic and that cleared it up.

do u get a CEL for EGR? i think they had the same type of plug, u might have mixed them up.

Yep check the plug make sure you didnt mix them up. But you can also test them with key on to make sure it is gettin powe all the way at the plug. If you are getting the proper voltages at the plug then the sensor is bad. I found out my wiring was bad =( Somehow my wires were severed and shorting to each other. My signal was reading power, ground was reading power, and the power was reading nothing it was wierd. Took me 2 weeks lol after going through 3 vss.
