F22b1 block + headswap: what do I plug?

Does anyone have experience with this? Which oil ports do I have to plug to make this work? Where can I get the supplies to plug the block?

    thanks for any help

i would imagine that jb weld would work.

i also saw on some site where somebody took a metal rod and dremelled grooves around the outside, and put o-rings around it and stuck it in.

f22a blocks come with a plug installed... which would be easy to buy at the dealer, and id imagine it would fit right in.

what head are you putting on your block?

How bout tapping the holes and using hex bolts like the method used to plug egr ports? That way you could still unscrew them if you need to. Not sure how effective that would be.

I want to swap my F20A dohc head onto my f22b1 block, and the only difference i see from the top of the f20A block is
            (1) a plug ( above the oil pressure sensor general area ) and
(2)the F22b1 block has 2 more holes on the left side of the first sleeve

does anyone have pics of the 2 blocks (f22b1, f22ax)? im interested in seeing the plugs on the block

Mike, do you have more info on that oring dowel pin trick?

would jbweld be as safe? will the hexbolt idea seal the oil off?

Well I know the hexbolt idea is usually a normal application for sealing off an IM;moreover the egr plugs. They are air tight for these reasons, however I'm not sure what pressure they are experiencing. Is the oil pressure that much more compared to the air pressure in the head/block? If you're worried about leaking you could always apply rubber gasket such as hondabond to have a tight seal. Don't some of the holes in the block already use hexbolts?Again, I'm not 100% about this idea but it works fantastically for IM and it looks professional not to mention its undoable.

Found this article. It's an f22b1 head on an f22a block. Hope this helps if even a little. I know you want to do the opposite. He uses JB if you read his paragraph. http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?cmd=print&id=529272

threading the port will work just fine. The h22a4 has a service bolt in the vtec pressure area so you can check oil pressure. It's just held in with a bolt. If your worried about it leaking apply any sort of high temp thread sealer. (don't know of any that is better than the other, i applied pipe dope for plumbing) just make sure you have a good tap and good hex skrews. good luck on that project. What are you expecting out of it?

thanks, looks like i'll just have to look for some hex studs online and tap the hole. Anyone know where to find them online, off hand?

btw, im expecting about 450whp outta the entire project

cuz its already sleeved, but since the b1 head sucks so much, i figure I'd see better gains and easier tuning without vtec

whered you get the orings? how many did you use, and how long was the bolt you jb welded
