Cylinder heads are different, intake manifolds and exhaust manifolds are different. I'm pretty sure as well that the block is the same. I've worked on a F22b2 (nonvtec) and did a full timing belt/front engine seal job and replaced the cylinder head on it, etc. Anyhow, the block appeared the same in every manner.
I wouldn't use that f22b1 or b2 cylinder head, but a F22ax as it flows better and has the potential to flow even more, but you'd have to change ur intake mani and exh. mani.

ok thats what i thought. Well it will be good for me to tear down an engine and get some experience before i do an engine build. If i can use the block that would be awesome. The only thing wrong with this engine is the crank seal is leaking, i think cause its missing the retainer outlined in the tsb.

tsb retainer is for the countershaft, the front balance shaft. not crank.
i didnt realize it before, but i have an f22bx piston sitting here (94 LX... f22b2?) its a PT3 (4g) rod and a P0A (5g) piston.

Why not get the experience and how things go together, tear it down. Heck, if anything you can rebuild the block as you can for a turbo build or for an all-motor build high compression and slap a head on later, etc. It's up to you, but I'd atleast tear it down if anything for the experience, you could always try then selling parts, but you won't get much.

well the part numbers for the block are different, Id really like to use this block for a build, can I still use it if the internal specs are the same?
