    Quick, stupid axle question

    I just swapped out both my axles for new ones. I forgot which side is which though. One has splines all the way down the tranny side, and one has splines halfway down the tranny side. I got one already on, but I want to be clear on which one is which, please help.

    there should be one with threads on the end and an axle nut, that goes through the hub.

    if you're confused about which side is which the longer side is the passengers, and the shorter side is the drivers

      These look to be about the same length. One only has splines halfway down the tranny side though. I think it goes into that other shaft or whatnot but I'm not sure.

        full splined shaft is driver side, half spline is passenger. wouldve found out as soon as you tried to put the half spline end in the intermediate shaft and it didnt go all teh way in, hehe.

          hmm... i know one of them goes into the carrier shaft on the drivers side if thats what your talking about?

            thanks mike as always, I figured it was right, but the half spline didn't really wanna go into the passenger side.. thanks though.

              np. grease the splines (make sure they are clean and rust free!!!) and flip the snap ring at the end so the gap is at the top. put it in as far as it could go, then i usually set a block of wood on the edge of the CV joint and tap it in with a hammer. good luck

                Mike I got the fully splined one to go into the passenger side. (OOPS!!) Does it matter that I did that? I work at autozone so I can swap out the half splined one for a fully splined one and put it on the drivers side.
