I usually use Valvoline Max Life, but I couldn't find any 4 or 5 quart containers of it when I switched to 5W-30 for winter, so I'm currently using Castrol GTX High Mileage. (I use a Fram filter too, simply because it's the only decent, non no-name brand that's readily available besides K&N, and I'm not about to pay the ridiculous price Auto Zone wants for the K&N filter) Honestly, I don't notice a difference at all between the brands, although I suppose they are pretty similar products.

Fram oil filters are terrible. You might be better off with a "no-name" filter.
Purolator and Wix are quality, reasonably priced(~$5) filters.
Frams are very bad. Don't believe me? Ask google.

So what exactly is wrong with Fram koffin? You keep shooting down everybodies habits, but you don't back it up.

fram is widely known to be a very bad filter.

In the winter, I use Quaker State 10W-30. In the summer, I use Mobil 5W-30.

I also use Fram filters and they are good. They have a high bead count inside the filter which tells you it traps dirt and contaminants well.

Yea it traps it well but then it obstructs flow....which is also needed and a good thing for cold starts and such...And if you need to knwo about oil filters http://www.oilfilterstudy.com/ There you go. Good info Nail... What brand of filter (that is available at your local automotive shop) would you reccomend? I am just curious. I want to make sure I am running the right oil weight, brand, filter, etc that I can without spending an arm and a leg every 5,000 miles. LMK.

EDIT: should I run a different weight between the winter and summer? Things like that. LMK. Later
