how much does a valve job cost and what is onvolved. is it something a beginner can do?

why do u need a valve job? installing new valves? no you cant really do it yourself, what it is is grinding the valve seats until they seal with new valves perfectly. it cost me $324 (including tax) for a 3 angle valve job (seat grinding), measure shim and install valves, springs, retainers and stem seals, and vacuum test to ensure full seal.
prices vary, you need to call local machine shops (hint: phonebook) for accurate pricing.
or are you possibly talking about a valve adjustment? which yes can be done at home, but if i were you id only do it following a Chilton's manual.
