if you follow a manual and pay attention, itll come out perfect. theres timing marks on everything that will show you if anything is off a tooth or not. the marks are listed in the manual.

Also, yes I know that wrenching is the only way to learn, but I'm just not accustomed to working on the INSIDE of an engine. Changing a clutch is one thing, but spending days and lots of money on something that very well could just leak again is not a good prospect. lol.

so you guys recommend a chilton's? I have the hayne's but it sucks. any other suggestions while I'm still in the planning stage of this project?

P.S. One more quick question, should I just pull the entire motor out of the car so I can bring it inside and work on it so I can do it right? That way I could change my front main seal (leaking), and maybe even do the rings.

a HG is easier than you think. i did it without removing the exhaust or intake manifold. working on the "internals" is no different than working on the externals. taking a tranny off and doing a clutch is no different than taking a head off and changing a gasket. just follow specs and torques and tightening/loosening patterns and youll realize how easy it is.

if you want to do the front main, itd probably be easier to pull it out... but its still doable... then itd be easier to do the timing belt as well...

do u have a crank pulley holder tool?

i'm sure you could part out the car and any other good parts on the motor should you not be able to repair it.

you'll just have to hoof it to work like i occassionally do or take the bus.
well i ride a bike to work but only because it's like 20 mins away.

wow, I made the mistake of asking a couple of super simple questions in the swap forum, remind me to never go in there again, sheesh.

I mean I don't like to get rude or anything but damn, why can't people understand "I already tried searching, I couldn't find the exact answer I was looking for".

Oh well, I hate to do it, because I'll still be stuck with a high mileage engine, but I guess I'll just change my HG, thanks guys.
