    Dohc Or Sohc...

    1993 honda accord lx 4dr automatic...
    i know i have a 4cylinder...4speed automatic...
    im pretty sure i dont have vtec...
    can someone tell me if i have a DOHC or SOHC...
    i have the stock engine...
    my car was imported from japan...
    which engine do i have...F22A or F22B?
    if anyone can tell me about my engine i would very much appreciate it...

    H22 Prelude VTEC 92-96 200 161 10.6:1 87 90 DOHC VTEC 2157 JDM

    190.3whp 155 wtq - with bolt ons, and a dc header

        search is your friend, but i think you have the f22a4 which is sohc non vtec.

              ty for the help guys...i did a couple more searches(never knew we had a search engine for the site)...im pretty sure that my 1993 honda accord 4dr lx automatic is a f22a4 sohc non-vtec...

              also...anyone know if there is a different between the japanese imported accords and the ones made here in the usa?

                The F22A4s were only in the 90-91 Accord EX and EX-R models. When you say your car was imported from Japan, do you mean you had it shipped over here or it was made in Japan and sold as an American model? Also, to make this all simpler, you have an engine code stamped on the black on the left side, right next to your transmission and right under the head. If you pop the hood you'll see it.

                        If you're really interested in learning more than anyone on here can teach you, get into import magazines, technical books on rebuilding engine, and any beneficial info off the web, etc.

                        I'm not ripping on ya, just giving advice. If you understand the engine layout better it will help, even better if you learn Honda engines specifically....just get an idea of 'em, not saying to be a pro.
