    H23 manual tensioner conversion

I have done my research on swapping the h23 tensioner over to the H22, yet I have read many posts about how the timing belt is EXTREMELY tight....Has everyone with the tensioner conversion had this problem? My H22 will be ariving in a week or so and I am still debating on what to do with the tensioner. It's nice peace of mind to know that a valve-train upgrade is possible with the conversion along with added reliability.

i did mine, and i used my f22 tensioner, i still have have room to adjust it, right know i left it a little too tight, so its making a whiring noise, i believe its is too tight when u use the h23 tensioner, i mixed and matched parts and it came it good

in comparison, h23 tensioner bearing is larger than the h22 one... which would account for the tightness when installing... i think i remember somebody saying they used an h23 water pump. but the f22 one may be smaller, which is interesting ... if so, thatd be the best way to correct it...

Yes, the belt is TIGHT... just to get it to fit on. After its on, its not really tight, its just getting that little teeny wheenie edge over the cam gear takes some patience.

I think its a good thing to have especially when you have no idea how long the motor you are getting has been sitting. you dont want the auto tensioner to have frozen up in a bad position, or aged enough to break prematurely.

So for the same price, you can get a new auto tensioner, or everything for the manual tensioner conversion. I would suggest to go for the conversion.

what i heard is that it's a struggle to get it on initially then all you do is rotate the crank a little and the tension will subside. i've heard this through cp[mike]. i've never actually done the conversion but i have all the parts. i need to know some insights as well.

sidenote: my auto tensioner was actually brand new when the timing belt was done prior to the swap. even the timing belt and water pump were new (but i replaced both for good measure). go hmotorsonline!

Thanks for all the advice, i found a detailed thread about the conversion here. http://candk.collectiveracing.net/fo....php?topic=9.0 ....It seems as though everyone does have the problem, some said the belt even whines because its soo tight. The engine is coming from hmotors so im sure everything will be cherry on it. So aero what your saying is its hard to get the belt on, then once its on the tension loosens up?
