    dizzy cap screw

ok my dizzy cap screw, which allows you to adjust timing, keeps coming unloose. Which i just i the reason why my car isnt starting sometimes. What is this screw a grounding screw which is making my dizzy cap lose a ground. when i screw it in it gets tight then loose.

I'm not sure exactly what screw you're talking about, but if it gets tight then loose it sounds like stripped threads. If it gets tight but loosens over time because of vibration, can you use blue threadlocker or something? I don't have a screw on my rotor, it's press fit, the distributor mounting bolts can be used to adjust timing (there are 3), and I don't know of a grounding screw??? Trying to help, maybe more info?

You talkin bout the cap itself or the complete distributor? If its the complete distributor did you use the correct bolt?

ok im talkin bout bolt that theres three of them. Its at the top 12mm head. when u lossen it u can move the holder dizzy assembly. when its loose it just makes the buzzing sound like your starter is bad, then i tighen it and it starts up but sometimes i have to turn the key for like 5 secs.

Should be a problem as unloose is the oposite of loose! LMAO I just couldn't resist that one. Sounds Like it's been cross threaded. Opps?

Your ignition problem may not be directly related to the stripped bolt, even though it could still be some other part of the dizzy.

Are you using left or right-handed wrenches to tighten those suckers....?

You could probably use a Helicoil. Get the kit that matches the threads of the bolt, drill out stripped hole and insert new threads. Sounds scary but actually works really well.
