blew a head gasket...How long can i drive it?

yup...i have oil in my coolant but not coolant in my oil any way its leaking oil in the back of my block to.I dont feel like fixing this engine up so i'm doing an h22 head and hopefully crank/rods on my old f22a6.Any ways just wondering since there is no coolant present in my oil (dunno why) can i drive this thing if i take it easy just from here to work?what should i watch out for?

EDIT:i dont really care if this thing takes a shit on me i just need it for atleast anothe month or so.

I suggest you put the car to the side and stop driving it...
Blown headgasket is a serious thing. You can end up with chunks of the gasket being shredded up in the motor...

Well, i guess if you dont give a shit like you're saying...

    Things to look out for?
Dont stomp on the motor, try not to drive in hot hot weather...WTF? just park your damn car!!!

blew my HG in an f22 a while ago... kept getting oil in the coolant which makes it brown and bubbly and sludgy... i kept adding fresh water and oil, it lasted for a couple weeks before getting bad enough that the oily water didnt work as coolant and it kept overheating. thats when i parked it and later fixed it... when i took it apart, i had to completely flush out the radiator a few times, and all the coolant ports and hoses i had to take off and clean out. that sludge sticks and builds up everywhere in the system...

Oil pressure is higher than coolant pressure.

i think i'm just gonna replace the headgasket cause building an engine takes time and patience and i dont wanna rush it.Taking the head off today.Anyone no the best way to keep the flywheel/cam gears from turning while i'm puting the tbelt on?and also i should also take the head to a machine shop and have it checked right?

you can, but you dont HAVE to....i dont know how prices vary from here to there, but if you can afford it you can get the head milled....higher compression, no more then .040'' tho....haha...

i dont really wanna mill it cuz i dont wanna mess with timing.just have them get it checked out and then mill as little as possible if the head is warped.

what starts to happen when the head gasket starts to go? like fan wise? anything or if just runs the same? (radiaitor fan)

You need to have the head resurfaced to get the old gasket material off, and then to make it perfectly flat.

And to honda83: The radiator fan will run the same, it is electric and completely independent. You will notice white smoke if you blow a head gasket because you will be burning coolant.

ok guys i feel completely stupid. There was some sludge in my coolant that looked like it could be oil in there.I also thought that oil was coming from the headgasket befind the block. We drained the coolant and it was a lil foggy but green.I also noticed that on the intake cam seal thing (the black seal next to the dizzy, this is an f22b dohc btw)was leaking oil like crazy, running on my tranny case and block.Well lets just say that once i again i fell victim to my quick conclusions.I also compression tested the engien and it came out to 185ish on all 4!!!I put some gasket sealant on that seal thing (not sure what it is yet) but i dont know if it stoped it completely.

                          anyways thanx for your concerns!peace.

Do an oil change as well.

Examine the color of your oil...see what comes out of the oil drain plug...
