    starting problem

ok guys heres the deal, ive gotten rid of the cb7 but your expertise is soo amazing i am using my "phone a friend" option here. so heres the problem...ill try to make it short

    1 car wouldnt turn over.
2 tried to jump start nothing...no clicking or noise
    3 charged the battery nothing
3.5 edit* i bump start it...runs great drove to napa got new starter
4 installed new starter....still same thing nothing.
5 charged battery again and still nothing
6 does make a sound when power goes to the starter 7 like a buzzing almost sounds like hte fuel injectors.
8 bump start again...works fine drive fine drove it all day then home after all this work

any suggestions guys?? all of my mechanic buds and i spent 2 hours couldnt figure anything

any chance the clutch sensor isnt telling the compter that my clutch is pushed in?

    Thanks soooo much guys

Any real mechanic would have first figured out if you had fuel and spark. Start by checking for both. Also check the connections/grounds.

list of things i can think of.
1)-bad starter solenoid..or defective starter motor
          2)-faulty ignition switch
3)-bad ground, or clean you battery terminals and ground points
          4)-clutch saftey switch..if our cb7's have one?
thats what i can think of

          regards tomd

what is this the standard response for any automotive question? if it was bump started and ran fine, then obviously it has fuel and spark. its just having a problem getting from stopped to running...

xfactortype1 is right, if its a new starter (assuming you replaced the whole assembly which is both the starter motor and the solenoid) and you tried jumpstarting it, it has to be either the connection from the battery to the starter or either of their grounds, or your ignition switch needs to be checked...

edit: somebody added something about the clutch sensor... yes it could be that too.. find the button up above the pedal and disconnect it and put a paperclip connecting the two pins of hte harness connector, see if it works then.

cpmike, not to be a dick, but I posted my response before he had edited saying it started after it was bump started. mike is exactly right in saying its probably the battery/connections/clutch switch causing the problem though.

well couldnt sleep so put on a jacket and went outside, my grounds are all good battery terminals are great, the only thing i can think of is bad ignition switch? or the clutch ingage sensor thing so tomorow in the daylight i will try your idea cpmike for the clutch and hopfully that works, if not i will have to try the ignition, the main reason why i dont think it is the starter is because usually when a starter is going out, you can tap it with something metal and it works a few times before it totally goes out, but if the ignition is good and so is the clutch sensor, i will take back tihs starter and get another one....thansk for your ideas let me know if there are any more....and whoevers idea works will get the 20 as promised

                  lets not fight guys

guys i added the switch. i googled the phrase "manual transmission starting problem" and came up with that link. i figured it was worth a possible suggestion, since she seems confused about it. I honestly drive an automatic, so im no expert with manual tranny. she asked for suggestion, so i did my best to put together a sensible list. i wanst sure if cb7's had such a clutch safety switch so that why i stated so.

in either way..neriah i hope ya you find your solution.

                  regards tomd

Your lucky your whole thread was not deleted. I said NO MORE titles like this...."problem* quick help guys thx" is not something people will search for in the future. Then, people whine and wonder why that can't find shit when they search...

Consider this a warning, from now on if I see it again I will just delete your thread.
