    Powerband?

I have a manual cb7 that was converted from an auto. I left the auto ecu in but still have the manual ecu. when i kick in the clutch before shifting and slowing down the powerband raises instead of dropping. what could be the problem?

what? a powerband isnt something that can just rise or drop... are you talking about the RPMs? when youre slowing down and you downshift, the RPMs increase. thats the whole point of downshifting...

say if im in first with my foot on the clutch pressed to the floor at a traffic light, the rpms go up to like 4k for example. so i have to put my right foot under the gas pedal to bring it back down b/c of the annoying hi rpm noise.

Does this happen only when you push down the clutch?

well if playing with the gas peddle changes anything..its probably a throttle cable, or throttle plate problem.

otherwise i would say vaccum leak, and i cant tell by your description which ECU you have in your car right now. if you have a manual, put the manual ECU in.

ok i understand now... yeah the gas pedal could be getting stuck, check the throttle cable... a vaccuum leak would cause the idle to raise too but that wouldnt be something that pulling up on the gas pedal would fix.

sounds like a throttle cable thats sticking...

Wouldn't the auto ECU make the RPM's rise due to you having to hold the brake at a stop...otherwise you'd stall out at every stop seeing as you stay in gear. I think the whole problem is the Auto ECU with the 5 speed. Did you even unplug the TCU?

ive seen auto ECUs used in manual cars and the only weird thing it does is mess with the timing for the radiator fans.

Get out the WD-40 good guess with the vaccume leak, but your right, i wouldnt think that it would change by lifting the peadal

why not just put the manual ecu in and stop driving it until you do

Yeah, an auto ECU with the TCU still connected sounds like it would cause problems. But I agree about the idle at stop. The ECU preemptively and heavily compensates idle for a lot of things when you have an auto because of the load on the engine.

mine was doin the same thing when i would come to a stop but i didnt have a a/t ecu in... i had a vaccum leak and just plugged it up and it idles perfect now.

I tried looking for a vacuum leak by looking at the rubber hoses, but could not find one. I did fix the high reving but now my idle fluxuates up and down now. I cleaned the IAC valve but I havent put the manual ecu in yet. If you dont see a vacuum leak how can you tell? I tried listening to find air seeping out but didnt find that either.

rotate the FIV yellow sponge downward.. is probably the source of the fluxuation
