THat is indeed your tie rod end. Did it break or did the boot just crack and move to the side?

If you can, I would suggest replacing the boot, tie rod end and inner tie rod since they may be full of crap. Without the boot, steering rack wont stay clean/lubed so it'll wear out the steering quickly.

Life and death thing? no, aslong as the boot is cracked and not the tie rod. But a good idea to fix it soon.

that looks like an axle, not a tie rod boot. tie rod is further to the rear of the car, you can see whatevers in the picture is on the side of the transmission (automatic). having talked to him thru PMs, sounds like his lower ball joint broke and the knuckle pulled out of place, ripping the axle like you see in the picture.

Better pictures would help. I would take an overall pic to show the relative location of the area you speak of (circle the specific area within this pic). Then do a few zoom shots from different angles.

I'm mean really, how do you expect accurate help when you can't even provide sufficient information for anyone to go by??

Laziness, once more...if you really wanted good help you would have done this from the start

From now on, people that want help...if they do not provide sufficient information do to laziness, threads like this will be deleted.

Alright so for anyone who still is in the mood to help me out if you to page on 10-2 Cahpter 10 Suspension and steeeing systems, Thier is a undershot photo of the cb7. Near aprt 8 and part 2 you can se a full picture of my problem. The tri-pot it says snaps inot the boot. The part that cracked out of the boot is a piece of metal pole sort of with 3 prongs that stick out of the top on al sides refer to page 8-8 in Chapter 8 Clutch and Driveaxles. and you will exaclty se the part that I am talking about that seperated.

My previous statement has nothing to do with your mechanical aptitude but common sense, excuses get you no where in life. My suggestion would get you answers, after all that IS what you are looking for...correct?

Wow, yet another example of your "fantastic" approach at presenting a question that you want others to answer..

Okay, so I go to 10-2 in chapter 10 suspension & steering systems and check out some diagram....hmm, funny what service manual do I use??

Besides the point I just made, you want someone to happen to have that same manual, have it on-hand, go get it, turn to the pages you listed then analyze your question to give you an answer? Hmm, considering most people in this world are lazy...not many would do this and the ones that would, you better appreciate the time they took, to make up for YOUR laziness in presenting a question the way it SHOULD be presented.

The only reason I am not deleting this thread is because you have chosen to be an example to others

Good luck & have a nice day Hopefully, someone will answer your question soon....
