    Battery relocation in the bumper?????

I didnt know where to post this. I was on prelude power looking for information for a friend. I ran across a battery relocated in the bumper look at the pick.....

Can we do this on our cb7s....I think it would be a better bet than relocating it in the trunk.......

    What do you guys think

i think u could do it with an oddessy batter but with a normal sized battery idk. i feel like it would get in the way of the headlight assembely, bumper light, or a bolt holding the bumper on.

also think about the dirt and crap that flys up in that area. thats probly a track car that they cart around.

the reason for relocating to the trunk is for weight balance. with this setup above there is more weight in the front end which equates to understeer. the odyssey battery is very thin and small, enabling it to be tucked away shown above. normal batteries will not be able to fit without some major customization. IMO it's not worth it. if you must relocate, place it in the trunk.

nice 3rd gen lude though !

When you do put it in the trunk, its important that you seal the box that it is enclosed in to prevent hydrogen poisoning (i think its hydrogen poisoning at least.)

you could put it in there.. what happens when you leave your lights on and need a jump though? If you want to relocate it, shove it in the trunk, drop it below the regular battery tray (fab up a new one) or put it by the starter.

Knowing how forward thinking the Honda Engineers are, why didn't they just put the battery in the boot in the first place??
I always thought fitting the battery in the boot was to free up space under the bonnet to accomodate other items like CAI's or Intercooler Piping, or to tidy up the engine bay. But then again I could be wrong.

look nice and clean but not practicle, if you have a 10-15mph bumper bender the car will be dead since the battery will damage or messed up or fall on the ground , hard time to get in there and reconnect power or ground cable or replace when emergency appear.

if i were going to take it out of the engine bay but still keep it at the front of the car, i would put it where that big airbox is inside the fender/bumper on the passenger side. if you remove it, there is a lot of room ... the space where people usually put the filter for a CAI...

but i still love aero's location on the front crossmember, but those with ABS arent lucky enough to have that open space :\

                          Mine is where wikked's is..

I originally was going to cut up the inner fender (where the stock battery sits) and weld in a box so the battery would drop right in, but without a cutoff wheel, I aborted that plan. This one is out of the way, but still easy for jump starting/charging (had to jump/charge it about 4 times in the past months. Stupid headlights need to turn off automatically!

Odyssey battery, Part PC680, you can get one with a regular outside or a metal jacket on the outside. search for "odyssey" on ebay, and there will be plenty. It starts my car fine, only dies when i leave lights on for about 8 hours.. done it 3 times now.

You can mount them in any direction but upside down.

Stock batteries weigh about 45 pounds, these weigh 13.
