    heat shield stuck

    yaaao, i went to take off the header heat shield this morning so that i could paint its ugly ass, but 2 of the bolts are stuck and they start to strip everytime i try to loosen them....if anyone has a soultion to this pleeeease let me know. thanks

    Maybe try a different size socket (12mm)...use some WD40. Also if you have a lx or dx you will have to remove the o2 sensor as well as the 3 (3rd right about o2 sensor) other bolts to get the heat sheild off.

      hose that bitch down with wd40 and let it sit for a couple hours.. spray it down again and wait the same then try.. those bitches get rusted on so often..

        if that dont work heat the sons a bitches up with a torch.i wouldnt even put it back on if i were you.its only a safety precausion that honda had.if your headers are ugly just wire brush the shit outa them and then clean em off.

          yeah i tried to take mine off, and the bolt head snapped off. forget ever putting the heat sheild back on...

          if u get it off, LEAVE IT OFF

            ya even painting them look like shit,i got mine off no problem,but i didnt want it anyway so i threw it out.headrs look better.

              Yeah, just heat them up. Thats what I had to do to get my header loose. If you dont have a torch, get one of the mini pocket ones(about the size of one of those click lighters) thats what I used. Just make sure to get all the wd40 or other flammable stuff off there first

                I'm surprised that nobody ever reccomends Liquid Wrench, or some other actual pentrating oil... not this pseudo-lubricant shit.
