    Heater Problem

Hey guys, I'm having a problem with the heater in my '92 Accord LX. The problem is the heater doesn't do anything, not even cold air, until the engine gets heated up, and even then it barely comes out. I'm thinking it is the heater motor but I'm not really sure, and I don't have the knowledge to really diagnose the problem.

I searched the forum and didn't really see anything similar to my situation, sorry if this has been asked before and i missed it.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

hey i dont know about not gettin alot of air, but on mine it was kicking air out but not warm, it turned out to the be the valve thats right by the firewall the heater knob has a cable that is attached to it and when turned to hot it should open the valve, check to see that that is opening all the way, its twords the battery side of the firewall under the intake mani, if not that it could be the blower motor

do you smell any fishy like smell in the car somewhat is the carpet just a little wet it could be the heatercore. Better hope it isnt or maybe the blower is finished .

No air probably means something running the fan is shot. If you get hot air when rolling, then the vent is open to the heater. More than likely, the air is being forced through your system through forward motion "ramming"... I bet you get more air the faster you go.

As for what specifically to look at, I've never actually worked on my fan, so I don't really know the system. Fuses, switch, and fan motor are where I'd probably start.
I swear, eventually I'll run out of things to break.

I guess I was wrong... I broke it all. Died 10/29/06

crewfish is right, if youre getting barely any air, its probably just the vents being open and you moving forward.

the easiest thing to check is the fan speed knob, if you remove the black plastic trim from around the radio/vents/gauge cluster (use a haynes manual) you can try replacing the fan speed knob. or if you know how to use a multimeter you can check it.

if thats good, the motor itself may have taken a crap. thats pretty annoying to get to, you need to take out the steering wheel and the entire dashboard, and its behind it.
