    eating timing belts

why in the world would a fully tightened timing belt creep to the left and get chewed up by something or other? It started last night, I replaced the belt this morning, by the time I got home at the end of the day (19 miles) the belt was about 2 cm wide.

what do you mean 2cm wide? And are you sure its tight? If its not tight it will flap and hit the cover.

well look at it while its running with the cover off...and then you will see.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

I got it. The tensoner was able to rock back and forth because it wasn't on the little hingy peg deal.

i was just about to say that, not having the tensioner on the peg and tightened down, the tight belt makes the pulley go angled and it lets it walk off, and will make that happen. glad you figured it out.
