    cv joint grease leak pics

I recently had to redo just the inner cv boot, overall it went pretty smooth, but the clamps were a pain the ass. Those were my main concern too. Apparently I didn't get it on good enough because today I look under the car and the boot is on but grease is flingin around everwhere. My stepdad told me he thought it was fine, possibly we put in too much grease when we did the boot (he helped me). He said wipe all grease then just check the next day. Is he just saying this because he helped me and he didn't want to sound like a dumbass admitting that we didn't do it correctly, or is he wrong and at the very least I need to reclamp it with a new clamp. I've got some pics so you guys know what I am talking about. Dont know if they are necessary but, what the hell, im bored.

Thought this pic turned out pretty cool...

You can see the grease in the pics. You think its excess or a leak? You can see how the clamp is kinda tweaked in the first pic.

Anyways thats my problem, hopfully I don't have to redo the boot, that would blow. Any input apprieciated

Its a week old. Dry as in...? Are you talking about the actual outside of the boot, or the inside is dry?

mine has been flinging grease for hella long when i first got the car...i frist thought it was the oil pan that made the grease everywhere.

Trade that axle in for a remanned one if your on a budget leave it as is and wipe it away its not that big of a deal for now but if it tears swap that bitch out immediately. Because once that dirt gets in there its gonna make shit click and i know you dont wanna be out there in the freezing cold with that car clicking on you.

but dont you still have to worry about the clamps, that was the worst part for me. i did not know that there was a special tool for them. i was actually thinking that there might have been while i was doing it cuz i was like you gotta be kidding me, tryin to stretch that shit around so it would clamp good, not too fun.

so it sounds like i shoudnt be to worried about this, as long as it doesn't pop off and get dirty. cool thanks guys.

Okay so I think it's clicking now, only it's not really clicking but it sounds more like a squeaky wheel. Is that still the CV joint or is this because something else?

throw a large band clamp on the outer/wider part of the boot, the strap clamps they give you suck butt... tighten that sucker down and no more grease will get out...
