Question about installing M/T tranny mount

I know the auto tranny mount won't work, but after i took the transmission out, i noticed that there are a couple brake lines and an A/C line running pretty tight around the mounting bracket. When i install the new manual mount will these hoses not be in the way? They are hardline so i don't see how you could move or reroute them. So somebody who has already done this, how does the fit of the manual bracket relate to that of the auto one? Is is slid further forward or back? How did you get the new one to fit?

    Thanks
    -Brian

undo that white plastic clip that holds them to the stock auto mount and itll give you enough play to pull them out of the way. see pic below, the 5spd mount is lower so that helps. dont mind how bad it looks, between all the sanding cutting and welding it looks like crap before its painted:

thanks for that pic cpmike. a picture is worth a thousand words. so it looks like the m/t mount might sit a little farther forward (toward the front of the car) than the a/t mount in addition to sitting lower? after i cut the a/t mount off i was thinking of puttin the tranny back in and tack welding the mount in place so i could make sure and get it installed correctly. is this similar to what you did? the hardest thing of this swap so far has been putting that crazy clutch pipe in. that is a mess. how did you approach that?

no problem sir. and yes, the MT mount sits forward a bit... dont just guess, or the mount wont line up. i actually did exactly what you just mentioned above, set the whole motor/tranny back in, tacked the mount, then took the motor back out to weld it all the way around.

and the clutch line - eh - i did it with the motor out so it was pretty easy. im guessing your motor is still in? if so, i could imagine that being pretty difficult...

yeah the motor is still in. i'm not doing this for performance or anything. i got a new car last summer and put just about 23K on it in a year.. so i thought i would put me a manual in my old accord and use it to help with the miles on my new car. the auto tranny jerked pretty bad on downshift and plus i just thought this might be fun to do. haha my friends think i'm a little nuts. what di you do with all your auto stuff? just throw it away? i doubt anybody would want an auto tranny with 252K on it.

do you think using a rubber hose would be ok for that clutch pipe? i wonder if that fluid is under a lot of pressure. i spent about 2 hours on it yesterday and couldnt get it to sit right. about pulled my hair out. this has been the most difficult part. haha that's sad to be defeated by a metal pipe.

i dont really throw old parts away, saved the old mounts and whatnot. sold the tranny for a hundred bucks. i dont think anybody would really buy a 252k tranny either so many give it away or keep it around, up to u.

about the clutch line - yes its under high pressure, and no you cant use a rubber line. a saw somewhere on here a guide to using a flexible braided steel line, which technically was written as a way to bypass the clutch damper assembly, but i think it would probably make your life a ton easier - im trying to find it... anybody see that before? basic gist was to get an 8 foot braided steel line (basically a long braided stainless steel brake line) with the correct fittings on either end - one to match the side of the master cylinder at the firewall and the other end to match the fitting on the slave cylinder on the tranny. then just run the line between the two any which way you want and voila...

                finally!!

well don't worry about trying to find that link about using the braided brake line. i finally got that crazy clutch pipe installed tonight. it took me about 2 1/2 hours but it finally all went in. i think ive taken about everything off my firewall. haha but it's all in and back together now..

thanks for that pic of the mount...
