      Big brake upgrade $75

I used that excuse to pull a pair of 98/99 Acura CL V6 complete spindle assembly from the local JY. The pads and rotors were in great shape so I left them in. Awesome stopping power plus I have the ROH setup now

Picture below is stock on left and CL V6 on right.

Exactly. And with the captive rotors its not something you or the guy doing it is going to want to do twice. You have to remove the whole knuckle.

You can do what you want. But your not going to be able to justify going the cheap route in any way. Its simply not worth it. Id just leave it alone rather than go with cheap parts. Your just going to wind up spending money and still be right where you are now.

That’s a good choice. With them being more efficient they will also wear slower.

Are you factory rear disc or did you get them in the swap? Or did you do the rear?

What parts do i need? never dealt with brakes before...

EDIT: on a budget here, im talking cheap oem, not brembo.
                Assess what you have first.
The squeaking you are hearing is maybe from pad wear warning tabs. If that's the case, have our licensed friend replace pads from AZ which has limited lifetime warranty as recommended earlier. I believe they will replace them pads even for wear. So, it should not be considered as "stealing". Call them first to confirm it.

$50 or less for pads. $10 for lunch, you and him.

$60 or less and you are done.

If it has a lifetime warrantee then your good to go. That’s not dishonest at all and never did I say it was.

Still it’s not a job you want to do with cheap parts even with a lifetime warrantee. Most will agree with me however, you can only do what you can afford. With that being said the Auto Zone stuff is more than likely one of the better choices if going that route. Because like oyajicool said. You have a lifetime warrantee.

Every time you take the knuckle out you risk tearing boots on ball joints and there are parts that should be replaced almost every time you are in there anyways like the Axle nut. Not a big deal really. The dimple almost always ends up in the same spot. Most CV shafts come with a nut for a reason. Also make sure you have new cotter pins. New caliper bolt boots are almost always needed the first time if they are the originals. Not to mention it can take some an hour or two just to get it all apart. Just something to think about.

I’d rather pay for good parts that I will only have to change maybe every 3 or 4 years than get parts with a warrantee that I have to replace every year and hear brakes squealing all the time because most cheap pads I have do that. But that may just be because its Oreillys cheapo Brake Best stuff.

I am still rocking auto parts store bought brake pads on my LX for 6+ years, 46K miles. Pads were installed by previous owner shortly before I bought the car.

And, I take turns and corners deeper than I should on occasions.

I work at Autozone. An excellent way to get extra parts:
Take off old part and install new part (Rotors).
Let your old rotors sit around for a month or two. Take them back. Claim they're the rotors that you bought.
No need to make a big fuss. Just say you want to switch them out for new ones.
Take them back home. Now you have an extra set of rotors sitting around.
When it gets closer to the 2 years (2 years warranty on them). Take the rotors off your car up there and switch them out again.
Now you have new rotors on your car, and you still have the extra set sitting on your shelf!

I only really do this for not lifetime warranty parts. Lifetime parts you can switch out as much as you want. I literally get a new front end every 6 months, for free.
