Rear header mount...fixed the pesky thing.

I've had that rear mount break 3 times, twice with my old dc header and once with the Bisi header. While changing my oil today I grabbed a piece of 1/8" x 1" aluminum bar and made this:

Really easy, really simple! Hopefully that does the trick and gives those of you with the same issue some ideas to fix it.

do you really need this mount? Won't the flexpipe take care of all the movement?

wont the aluminum just fatigue and end up breaking? how is this any different than the original mounting plate piece?

I've already scraped the header a few times and feel much safer with this bracket functional. I could move the dp around a fair amount without the bracket.

This aluminum bar is twice the thickness and a little softer so it should resist cracking much better. Time will tell I guess.

BTW: I don't have a flex pipe, just the donut flange.

I think a flexpipe would be a good idea, doesn't bisi recommend running one with his header?

Yea i have a flex just off my bisi header but i removed that flange for ground clearance and had it welded up

I have never heard that Bisi recommends a flex pipe with his header, not saying you're wrong, just I've never heard that. Tons of cars run donut gaskets without flex pipes with no issues, you just need the mounts to stay solid!

If this doesn't last I will get some 1/8" steel and form one from that.

Yea i mean no offence but that mount does look a little chincey

The guy who welded up my downpipe cut a piece of 1/4 steel and drilled holes to utilize all 4 mounting bolts for the downpipe to block

I got the bisi H2B prototype header and had it modded to fit. This is what the shop did for my bracket. I also have a 6" flex pipe welded in just to make me feel better.

That will surely hold it! I'd prefer for my bracket to bend and give before header damage occurs....it should act more like a shock IMO. Also, the rear of block and DP bracket are on different planes to a single sheet of 1/4" steel must have been difficult to bend and twist to work right, props!

Well that should surely hold it ehh? The only thing I would say is you're only mounted to one bolt on the block....a hard hit may crack that aluminum off. That's just my thinking, I could be wrong.

Yea my DP is flat anyway lol im bottomed it out so many times that its about the same level as my subframe brace, as for the mount, it was directly below the block bolt hole

I personally asked Bisi over the phone when I bought my header what he recommended, he said to use the donut gasket setup. I'm not a big fan of flexpipes either, so that was music to my ears. Mounts front + rear are 94A, stock mounts might be a diff. story about the flexpipe.

doesnt look too bad, but i do think the rattling movement may cause fatigue, and it will probobly break soon

I'm running esp poly mounts also so very minimal engine movement. I'll keep you guys posted on longevity of my current bracket. If it doesn't break in 2-3 months then we know it's better than the stock one.

Just an update. I've been using this for over 2 months now, hit a few things with the DP flange but the brackets are holding their own. No cracks or breaks!
