    high pitched whistle

ok how do you get rid of that horrible high pitched whistle from your intake??
iv just installed a cold air system in hopes that it might help but NO.

also what do i do with that long vacuum hose that runs from the plenum to a funny little box thing near the battery?

the sound comes from the intake . if you can hear the whistle its working properly .as for the black box , if you have a after market CAI you don't need the box hooked up .

A man that keeps looking back can't see whats in front of him.

That black box below your fuse box is the ABS fuse box... did you even read the cover or pop it off? The vaccum lines are just running underneth it

ok i have tryed running the car with it unplugged and the vacuum hose disconnected and it seems to run ok and i even went for a drive and still ok apart from idle sometimes getting abit low after i put the clutch on.

so should i just block off the vacuum thats running from the plenum?

Not 100% sure, but I think that controls the resonator located under the battery. It would be a valve type thing in your stock intake tubes. SE only, I think.

so if i disconnect the wires and plug up the vacuum it wont do damage?

you can unplug it, it doesn't do anything with your aftermarket intake. on the OEM intake its purpose was to quiet the intake down by either opening up some diaphram or whatever in that box.

So just unplug that vacuum and cap the nipple at the plenum. Your intake should've come with a cap for this purpose.

yeah i think it was missing a hose or 2 but for about $80 i cant complain and i got it shipped to NewZealand from the states

you know it still worked out cheeper buying it in the states than buying it here...thats if they had any in NZ in the first place.

it could be due to the type of filter you're using. Does yours have filter material at the very tip instead of being flat and having it only on the cylindrical circumference?

That could be causing the air to be rushing into the intake whenever you hit the gas causing that whistling sound.

My beater CB7 I bought had a cheapo short ram intake, similar to the Ebay ones, with those "ram air" style filters with the gauze at the very end in a conical shape and it always makes that noise whenever I apply moderate gas above 3k rpm.

My other H22 swapped one has an Iceman short ram but it uses a filter with a flat tip w/ no filter media at the very end and it doesn't make that sound.

That black box is an intake air length adjuster, Once you install a CAI you can disconnect it and plug the vacuum hose.
That could also be what is causing your whistle.

BTW your sig is too big, please reduce it to the rules allocated size.
