    Swapping Wire Harnesses

I would like to know how hard would it be to swap wire harnesses between CBs. I think the one I currently have has a nasty short in it somewhere as I tried fixing the ground issue which in the case didn't work. And are they DIY's on such a subject. Thanks in Advance

i believe that as long as its the same as urs, year, ex lx or whatever, an if its ABS or not, an u should be good.... dont know about 2door harness into 4door an vice verse. its easy to get them out, under the hood ones anyways! goodluck!

it is a hrad fucking job!!!

trust me..it takes about 4 hours to pull it completely and about another 4 to install it..that is without cutting anything and doing it good..

^^^^^^^^^ Thats because you hate wires lol.

Seriously, depends on where the short is, The CB has seperate harness's that tie in together. Easiest being engine and dash harness, hardest being the chasis harness. Do you know whats shorting out?

As previously stated get the same harness as the trim of your cb ex,lx or dx

Sweet deal I have an SE Coupe one that will work ( I don't care if its a coupe one I am the only one that drives it). I am pretty sure its just the external part that is shorted out (under the hood)

If its the engine harness, that is seperate from the main vehicle harness and much easier to swap...thats a given! If its something up front under the hood aside from the engine, that harness ties into the entire car ( mistake me if I am wrong ).....meaning as mentioned above...its a JOB to swap! But if its up front you should be able to locate a short within the chassis harness and like i said, if its engine harness just swap it out, its not hard at all.....well....my reference was a DA Integra I did years ago but Honda is typically Honda...so should be about the same.

engine harness is easy to pull out

dash/ECU harness (the other half) is MUCH more time consuming to pull out, you need to remove the whole dash and most of what is behind it.

my experience with pulling and moving these old harnesses around, is that with too much action the wires start to crack within the insulation - by the time you are done swapping a new harness in place, you may end up creating some new shorts anyway.

its usually much easier to track down the specific short... what problem are you experiencing?

What happens is when I start my car it runs just fine, but my dash gauges act like they want to work part of the time and then the my HID's flicker as if there was a short somewhere. If i let it idle it works strong. When I turn the car off it acts like it wants to stay on with the key in the off position.
