need some help. check this out.

I drove this morning and i heard some loud clunking noise coming from my drivers side.once i stepped on th break it stopped.i put it in reverse and it sounded like metal to metal were rubbing hard.Took the drivers side rim off looked underneath the car and found this.
This pic you see something scraped inside if rim.

    closer look

also found this.not too sure how long i have been driving like this.what is this called.racket pinion, drive shaft.or.......

Guess who needs new tie rods?
    You do!
That could also be the rack you're seeing inside the boot.
It's not the driveshaft. The axles connect to the center of the rotor. See the giant axle nut?
Look for something attached to the steering knuckle rubbing on your tire.
My friend had an s10 where the caliper often became unbolted and would jump up and down.
    MRT
37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

Lots of DIY videos specifically for our car

Get some awesome wipers! <-- It's a DIY

that would be my guess to. if it where your ti-rod sticking that far out you would not have any steering because it would be busted.

Yup,one of the bolts was gone. Then i tried to tighten the top one and it just turned and turned. There was no more thread so it wouldnt get tight.Nedd to hit the junk yard so i can get the bracket that holds the break pads.Know need to check the other side.Need to buy a rebuild rack and pinion. Thanks again for the replies.
