Did my timing belt the other day. My car's been having some odd vibrations lately.
I was letting my car warm up a bit for lunch today at work and I heard a little rattling going on in the engine bay. I shut down and saw that the nut holding timing belt tensioner (the one tightened/loosened to adjust tension) had spun out.
I am hoping that the rattling in there was just the tensioner pulleys bouncing about. It should be because I can't see how the nut could fall back in there.
I can slap a regular nut on there until I can get to the stealership and get the new one.
My question is, is the pulley screwed now? What is the chance that the timing belt pulley tensioning arm has come off the peg (the black one that sits to the block side of the pulley)?
I didn't sit there and pound the motor and shut her down before anything crazy happened...
Help! Need to make it home! I can't live at work!
