Any idea what it could be? Alignment, wheel bearing, rotors, etc? I just don't wanna go around replacing everything unnecessarily.

Car swerves/jerks to the right while braking hard

It could possibly be a stuck caliper/wheel cylinder on the right side of the car. Also, check the tightness of the suspension components very thorougly.

my car does the same thing. it started happening after i changed my tranny. it jerks to the right, which is the side that i removed the radius rod to get the tranny out. i think i may have over-tightened it.
it's weird though with my car. sometimes i can do a really hard brake and it's straight as an arrow, and sometimes it almost puts itself in the ditch.
i would clean and lube the sliders first. if that doesn't do the trick check into getting new radius rod bushings and torquing everything down properly.
also... do you're balljoints, tie rods, or tie rod ends have any play at all?
check out all the bushings in teh front end... it could be anything really (upper control arm bushings come to mind for some reason...)

id try pulling the calipers off to see if either is seized or rusted or wearing crooked. my first thought was also a stuck caliper.
you say the right side gripped and released fine, what about the left ?
