remove trans from block while on hoist?

engine is on hoist, have to take trans off to mount to stand, but the hook to lift motor is on the trans. how does the motor get lifted after removing transmission?

    thanks in advance.

i wrap the now-loose chain around the intake manifold.

or use a long bolt/nut and attach the tip of the chain to one of the unused straight-through rear mount bolt holes on the back edge of the block. that shouldnt interfere with the stand's bracket mounting.

i use 2 of the throttle body studs on the IM. i wouldn't reccomend it, but i've never had a problem doing it that way, just make sure your chain is as close to the intake manifold as possible so you don't bend the studs.
