what is the block made of?
hopefully its clean enough alloy to weld to. I can tig but i think its magnesium alloy of some sort. i'll grab the tig torch on a easy spot on the back and try it out. i have a f22a6 to cut out for the piece thats missing, no the missing piece is gone. i tryed but they can't find it.
yeah i'll post tonight if the weld sticks good on a test spot. i screwed up, in another post i said it was a open deck but its closed deck. it was a late one , i had to grind two head bolts on the f22a6 with die grinder. man my head still hurts
CRASH!!!
it's a cut out of a japanese wreck
i went there to the autowrecker just buy the stuff for the head swap and every thing the guy had was just a mess, so he offered this one thinking it was no good. a h22a (jdm) or H22a4 is 1200 from him , and there is a very limited warranty. i bought this for 450

Reason: didn't aswer question
i don't like the way the welding turned out. i 've got a second plan of attack. all 4 holes are cleaned and tapped. the one thats completly broken off i'm gonna grind flat and have some 3/8 tubing to make a sleeve to fill in the damage. there is about 10 threads in that hole. the others are going to be fine even the partially damaged one
my question is on the cylinder head there is a 10 mm bolt hole in the center just below the two gears. it doesn't seem to hold on the back cover as the the two 10mm head bolts do that. can i run a brace up to that? i'm aware it would have to clear the cover, belts and gears.
You should not have welded that. Even if you got the welds how you wanted its unlikely they would have held up. Not too mention its too close to the top of the head. Aluminum is a bitch I've never welded something that goes thru that kind of stress actually hold up for any signifgant amount of time without bracing or plating it.
